Congress Unveils "Naari Nyay" Initiative: Five Guarantees for Women Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2023

In a bid to prioritize women's empowerment and upliftment, the Congress party has unveiled its "Naari Nyay" initiative, encompassing five key guarantees for women across India. These guarantees, aimed at addressing various aspects of women's rights and socio-economic empowerment, were announced by Congress leaders during the Mega Mahila Melava in Dhule, Maharashtra.

Here are the five guarantees under the "Naari Nyay" initiative:

1. Rs. 1 Lakh Cash Transfer Annually: Every poor family will have one woman receiving Rs. 1 lakh as a direct cash transfer each year. This financial assistance aims to provide economic stability and support to women-headed households.

2. 50% Reservation in Government Jobs: The Congress promises to implement a 50% reservation for women in all central government recruitments. This move is aimed at enhancing gender representation and ensuring equal opportunities in the public sector workforce.

3. Increased Contributions to Workers' Salaries:The central government's contribution to Anganwadi, ASHA, and Mid-Day Meal workers' salaries will be doubled. This measure intends to improve the livelihoods and financial security of these crucial frontline workers, predominantly comprising women.

4. Appointment of Adhikar Maitri: Congress proposes the appointment of an Adhikar Maitri in every Panchayat. These representatives will educate and guide women about their rights, entitlements, and access to various government schemes and benefits, empowering them with knowledge and awareness.

5. Expansion of Savitribai Phule Working Women’s Hostels: The Congress plans to establish Savitribai Phule Working Women’s Hostels in every district headquarters across India, doubling the current number of such hostels. These hostels will provide safe and affordable accommodation to working women, facilitating their participation in the workforce.

In addition to these guarantees, Congress leader KC Venugopal emphasized the party's commitment to implementing the Women’s Reservation Bill promptly, aiming to remove obstacles introduced by the current government that could delay gender reservation for at least a decade.

Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi articulated the party's vision for women under the "Mahalaxmi guarantee", emphasizing the core principles of empowerment, equal representation, and respect for women's contributions to society. Rahul Gandhi reiterated the aim of making half of the country's population economically self-reliant and ensuring their active participation in nation-building.

These guarantees, under the broader framework of 'Paanch Nyay', symbolize Congress's comprehensive approach towards addressing key socio-economic challenges and promoting inclusive growth across diverse segments of Indian society.
